The University of Sydney is a public university and is located in Sydney, Australia. It’s also the oldest university in Australia that has been operating continuously for over a century. Founded in 1850, it was not only the first institution to offer courses in engineering and science but also one of the first institutions to offer degrees outside fields such as law and divinity. The University offers many undergraduate and postgraduate programs including architecture, arts, music, business management, dentistry, etc., with thousands of students enrolled annually. 

The campus occupies a square kilometre near central Sydney and includes buildings from all eras since its founding such as the Great Hall, the Main Building (1879), and the Quadrangle.

The university is also a founding member of the Group of Eight, a coalition of leading Australian universities.

The University has five campuses around Sydney CBD, one in Singapore and one in Dubai; it’s also affiliated with several overseas institutions such as Yale-NUS College (Singapore) and jointly administers graduate programmes through distance education with Charles Darwin University (Northern Territory).
